Summary:
The Service Line Director develops and implements high-level strategies and provides overall management of operations and resources.The Service Line Director is responsible for the development, communication and implementation of a strategic plan to grow the progam in volume, breadth, and depth of services.Accountable for the operations of the service line in a manner that ensures patient safety, meets or exceeds national quality standards and is responsible to the need of the patients, their families and the Medical Staff.Manages, directly and indirectly, the employees involved in the daily operations and strategic planning of the service line.Other responsibilities include financial management, human resource management and management of the revenue cycle for the service line in accordance with corporate policies and procedures, regulatory guidelines and statutes.Supervises leaders within the Orthopedics Service Line and Rehabilitation Services areas.Models appropriate behavior as exemplified in Mercy Health's Mission, Values and Promise.
Essential Functions:
Develops a strategic plan that clarifies steps for implementing the vision and goals of the Orthopedic Service Line, Therapy Departments, & Inpatient Rehabilitation while understanding the market i.e. threats, opportunities, and industry trends in order to position the service line for success. Leads and facilitates the effort to integrate all aspects of the Orthopedic Service Line & Rehabilitation Services, including those outside of direct reporting relationship, into a single comprehensive service line.Plans, organizes, develops, and implements operations to meet the needs of the Orthopedic/Inpatient Rehab patients, their families, and physicians throughout the continuum of care.Meets facility and departmental goals while directing, coordinating, and developing policies, procedures, and processes for the Orthopedic Service Line & Rehabilitation Services. Creates a culture of patient centered care, high clinical and professional standards/performance, and service to referring physicians. Ensures compliance with hospital, Joint Commission, CARF and other regulatory authorities. Provides strong leadership and direction in establishing an Orthopedic Service Line that meets or exceeds national quality standards. Ensures the service line is aligned with the Musculoskeletal Clinical Institute from a operational and quality perspective. Responsible for growing these service lines across the continuum of care. Prepares and administers an annual expense budget, capital request budget, and human resource utilization plan for hospital services within the Orthopedic Service line and Rehabilitation Services. Participates in preparation and administration of service line's annual expense budget, and capital request budget. Leads and Manages Inpatient and Outpatient Rehabilitation departments with supervision over the clinical supervisors. Focuses on growing outpatient therapy services by creating a strong marketing campaign and building strong referral patterns with primary care physicians Encourages and facilitates collaboration among physicians, leaders and clinical staff through participation in the Musculoskeletal Clinical Institute. Experience:
Minimum of 5 years experience in management with significant focus on business, financial, planning and development.Multiple years of experience in an Orthopedic Service Line settingpreferred. Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
Comprehensive knowledge of business principles and techniques of administration, organization and management to include an in-depth understanding of the key business issues that exist in the health care industry, particularly related to physicians.These include but are not limited to, knowledge of strategic and operational planning, health care economics, personnel administration, federal, state and local laws, financial management and trends in the health care industry.Knowledge of business office operations, particularly pertaining to third party billing and reimbursement activities.Knowledge of process analysis and design.Proven skills in interpersonal relationships, planning, organizing, and follow-up, budget preparation and monitoring, and management and leadership.Demonstrated ability to set and manage priorities, be a team member and educate others, relate to all levels of the organization, comprehend complex and technical subjects, create and motivate behavior changes, translate financial and technical language to lay audiences, and plan, implement, and monitor processes in a complex health care environment. Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:
Specific experience with Orthopedic services, practice management, practice management systems, financial management, and clinical management systems.
Salary Range:
$150K -- $200K
Minimum Qualification
Allied Health Professionals, Healthcare ManagementEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
