Description
Supervising and managing events at the Robert Cherry Civic Center during reservations, including setup/teardown of facility, cleaning facility, and enforcing facility rules during reservations. Manage daily operations including weekend and evening shifts, as assigned, for Parks and Recreation facilities including but not limited to the Paducah Recreation Center, Robert Cherry Civic Center, and the Paducah Farmer's Market. Assist supervisors in implementing Paducah Parks and Recreation's programs and special events as assigned.
Illustrative Duties
  • Works with supervisors to enforce facility rules, and make rounds to inspect the facility for needs, spills, trash removal, etc. Clean and sanitize facility. Set up tables and chairs before reservations and take down and store following reservations.
  • Responsible for inspecting the facility and reporting any work needed to supervisors.
  • Work with Recreation staff to implement plans, schedules, and activities for the Parks and Recreation Department.
  • Provides excellent customer service interactions, and communicates well with other staff, supervisors, and the public in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Organize materials and supplies needed for programs and events including assisting with set up, tear down, and clean-up after the event.
  • Maintains good relationships with facility users, event participants, and vendors and can act as a point-of-contact on-site, as assigned.
  • Monitor Civic Center areas and all park facilities to ensure safety and security measures are followed. Report any incidents to supervisors.
  • Must be organized and able to keep necessary records and documentation.
  • Requires working nights and weekends.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Must be at least 18 years of age. High School Degree or equivalent preferred. Experience in recreation management, event management, facility management, hospitality, or other related fields is preferred. Customer service experience preferred. A valid driver's license is required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge and/or experience in customer service, working with adults and children, and maintaining a consistent and safe environment. Experience and knowledge in special event planning, communications, and customer service. Must be prompt and reliable. Must be able to adapt when circumstances warrant. Must be flexible and organized. Must be willing and able to participate in planned activities, programs, and events. Must have strong leadership skills and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
Ability to maintain high energy and activity levels indoors or outdoors, perform light to moderate manual labor, and tolerate various temperatures and climates for prolonged periods of time. Must be able to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time. Be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
